Propeller presents
Pocket Dream
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream for young audiences
21-24 Sep 2010
Overview
'How to get your child hooked on Shakespeare'
The Daily Telegraph
Pocket Dream is a sixty minute version of Propeller’s highly acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which has played in excess of 200 performances worldwide.
Under the direction of Edward Hall, Propeller is an all-male Shakespeare company that brings texts alive with productions full of clarity, poetry, speed and imagination.
Pocket Dream provides a dynamic, contemporary and physical introduction to Shakespeare.
Young audiences will be invited into a performance space where the actors will encourage them to express their relationship to the work in the freest possible way.
After the performance the actors will run a talkback with the audience, inviting them to articulate and explore responses to the show.
Pocket Dream will leave a young audience not just having experienced Shakespeare for perhaps the first time, but having experienced theatre and crucially, theatre of the highest possible standard.
'If there are better productions of these plays this year, or even in the next few years, I will be astonished. Edward Hall’s superb, all-male company Propeller proves again the value of a true ensemble and a director who treats Shakespeare’s plays as if they’d just been written.'
The Guardian
'This is one of the best and most exciting productions of this great play I have seen, ever.'
