Community
Hampstead actively seeks to establish links with some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised groups in our local community. We work to identify and engage these hard to reach groups in either one of our scriptwriting projects or with a one off introductory workshop, tailored to meet the needs of the individual group.
Our community programme includes young carers; 18-25 year olds not in education, employment or training (NEETs); and the older members of our community through an over 60s group.
Our aim in working with those in our local community is to introduce them to the work of the Creative Learning department and create opportunities for them to connect with the theatre. For the under 26s this will be through the Heat&Light Young Company and our Writers Group; whilst for the elder members of our community it with be through one off workshops, attending our main-house shows and partaking in Question & Answer sessions. As with all our projects, we strive to create a safe place for our participants to experiment, learn, grow and feel part of our community.
Community Audiences
Hampstead seeks funding on a regular basis to enable us to offer the community groups with whom we work partially or fully subsidised tickets for our main house shows. We also offer post show question and answer sessions on selected shows.
