London Theatre Consortium Executive Fellowships

London Theatre Consortium (LTC) is a consortium of London’s major not-for-profit theatres: Almeida Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre (BAC), Bush Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Gate Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Kiln Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Unicorn Theatre, The Yard Theatre and the Young Vic. The LTC Executive Directors work together to drive shared strategic projects and align our practice.

To progress our collective commitment to developing a diverse pool of Executive leadership in UK theatre, in 2015 as part of the MOBO Rise with Us Movement, LTC partnered with MOBO to create a fellowship programme.

We are now recruiting our fourth cohort of fellows to begin in January 2023.

LTC Fellowship

Up to 4 fellowships will be offered for 12 months from January 2023. The objective is to demystify the Executive leadership of major London theatres by identifying mid-career highly skilled producers, administrators and managers based in anywhere in the UK, and providing mentoring, support and pathways for emerging talent towards executive leadership.

Fellowship requirements and benefits:

• Attendance at LTC meetings

• Each fellow will have bespoke access to the Executive Directors / Executive Producers across the member theatres including shadowing opportunities and will be mentored by one ED/EP

• A session with Kanya King, MOBO Awards founder

• Attendance at previews and press nights at member theatres subject to availability

• Attendance and introductions at key sector events

• The fellows will form a cohort to support one another during and after the Fellowships are complete

• The Fellowships are significantly self-led. Fellows can create particular opportunities to suit their interests, ambitions and needs.

• We anticipate the time commitment required will be in the region of half a day per month, carried out flexibly around other commitments and employment.

We invite change and challenge. This is a reciprocal relationship. What this means is that Fellows will be invited to actively participate in discussions and decision making at LTC meetings; that the LTC Executive leaders will actively seek out conversation, input and feedback on their practice as leaders; and the Fellows can shape their year with LTC.

Eligibility

Aimed at mid-career professionals in existing arts roles who are primarily from underrepresented backgrounds and ethnicities and who have an interest in pursuing an Executive leadership position. Applicants must demonstrate potential and show a high level of knowledge, commitment and ambition in their chosen field.

Selection Process

Potential Fellows will be encouraged to express their interest through these pathways:

• Members of LTC shall nominate candidates

• The LTC Chair shall seek suggestions from colleagues in the sector

• LTC members and LTC shall use its social media channels to call out for candidates.

• The opportunity will be circulated through national arts networks such as UK Theatre, Arts News and by MOBO.

Interviews will take place in London during the week commencing Monday 12 December.

The Fellowships will begin in January 2023 and run until December 2024. However, there is some flexibility in the timeframe and it is our ambition that we continue a relationship with all Fellows going forwards.

Successful candidates will receive a bursary of £2000.
