Martha McDonald was a world-famous singer – Grammy Hall of Fame resident, poster girl for revolution, and writer of one of the most iconic songs of the 1970s. Until she disappeared.

For many years she hasn’t written or sung a single note. Hidden from public view deep in the Californian Mountains, Martha guards a secret that, if revealed, will change everything.  And only one other person holds a key to this enigma: her estranged daughter, Anna.

Hannah returns to Hampstead Downstairs following her sell-out hit Giving earlier this year. Her other theatre credits include Come To Where I’m From (Paines Plough/Southbank Centre), Playing With Grown Ups (Theatre503/Brits off Broadway) and MUCH (Cock Tavern), which she is adapting for film.

Adam Penford makes his Hampstead Downstairs debut. Adam has just been announced as new Artistic Director of Nottingham Playhouse and his previous credits include A Small Family Business (National Theatre), The Boys In The Band (Park Theatre) and Unfaithful (Found111).  

George Blagden's recent television credits include playing Louis XIV in Versailles and playing Athelstan in Vikings and his film credits include Les Miserables.

Laura Pitt-Pulford's recent theatre credits include Sideshow (Southwark Playhouse), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Regents Park Open Air Theatre), for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, and Flowers for Mrs Harris (Sheffield Crucible).

Sian Thomas returns to Hampstead following Blue Heart Afternoon in 2012. Her recent theatre credits include Welcome Home, Captain Fox! (Donmar), The Trial (Young Vic) and Passion Play (West End). Her television credits include Atlantis and Merlin.
