Hampstead Theatre receives 7 Olivier Award nominations

Hampstead Theatre is delighted to have been nominated in seven categories at the Olivier Awards.

Five nominations were received by hit musical, Sunny Afternoon, which is currently playing at the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End following a sold out run at Hampstead Theatre last year. These include Best Actor in a Musical for John Dagleish, who plays Ray Davies, Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for George Maguire, who pays Dave Davies and Mastercard Best New Musical. The Kinks’ front man Ray Davies has also been nominated for Autograph Sound Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music and Matt McKenzie for Best Sound Design on the show.

Imelda Staunton also received a Best Actress nomination for her role in David Lindsay Abaire’s play, Good People, at Hampstead Theatre and in the West End and, for the first time, a Hampstead Downstairs show, James Fritz’s first major stage debut, Four Minutes Twelve Seconds, has been nominated for an Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre.

The Olivier Awards 2015 with MasterCard will take place on Sunday 12 April at the Royal Opera House and a highlights programme will be available to watch on ITV and then ITV Player following the ceremony.
