THE DIVINE MRS S, APRIL DE ANGELIS’ NEW PLAY, IS NOMINATED FOR THE SUSAN SMITH BLACKBURN PRIZE

April De Angelis’ new play The Divine Mrs S, which has its premiere at Hampstead Theatre in March, has been nominated for this year’s Susan Smith Blackburn prize.

The Divine Mrs S celebrates arguably the greatest theatre actress of all time, Sarah Siddons, who during the 18th Century was referred to as the ‘Queen of Drury Lane.’

April’s play is a Hampstead Theatre and AKO Foundation Next Decade commission and is one of ten to have been shortlisted for the prestigious prize which is awarded annually to celebrate plays of outstanding quality. It was chosen from more than 200 submissions and the winner of the prize will be announced on 11 March .

The Divine Mrs S plays the main stage from 22 March – 27 April.
